First Weekend of June

Hey all. This weekend is rapidly approaching (what? Tuesday counts as rapidly) so I thought maybe we could pow-wow about what people are doing. I suggest the following items:

1) DVD Trivia

2) Al Gore environmental movie

3) drinking

Now these things can all happen on the same day, or one on Saturday, one on Sunday, or perhaps all at the same time! Ok, maybe not that. Caroline has said Will is coming up this weekend, so maybe we do Trivia Saturday night and movie Sunday afternoon? Or the opposite? Or whatever?

Holla back!

It's gonna be a looooong summer.

Marsathon Anyone?

Now that we know Season 2 of Veronica Mars will be coming out on DVD on August 22 (oh, yeah I preordered), is anyone interested in a Season 1 Marsathon? I figure we can hit all the "big" episodes, maybe pick 5 or 6. I think trying to watch all 22 would be pushing it a BIT too far. My June weekends are totally clear, and if anyone makes a joke about that showing how exciting my life is, your ass will become closely acquainted with my foot in the near future.

I will volunteer my house, but as most of you know, seating is a bit limited and my tv technology is not that fantastic. Only 2 years until I save enough to get my own place! *feigned excitment* So, if anyone else would like to volunteer to host, feel free. I promise to personally clean all carpets that are dirtied in the course of this undertaking.

I'll go ahead and throw out Saturday June 24 as a possible date, since I know Caroline has a ton of weekends in a row where she is out of town. Holla back ladies!

I'll Make You Brownies!!

Does anyone have the first season of Grey's Anatomy on DVD? I decided to bite the bullet and start watching this show. After all, 30 million people can't be wrong, right? Oh, wait I forgot about American Idol. Anyway, if you have it I would love to borrow it and will repay you with brownies!

Screen on the Green!!

Okay, here's the schedule for this summer's Screen on the Green:

July 17: The Day the Earth Stood Still
July 24: The Band Wagon
July 31: Bullitt
August 7: To Have and Have Not
August 14: Rocky

The schedule says the movies start at sunset. The closest metro stop is Smithsonian; the screen is on the Mall between 4th and 7th Streets. Arista has already voted for To Have and Have Not, and i'd like to see The Band Wagon, but i'd be up for seeing them any or all.

There's also a link on the webpage for takeout; i vote we get some food beforehand and have a picnic during the movies. I get off work at 5:30; i can be there by 6:15, most likely, and am happy to stake out some grass if y'all want to arrive later.

I realize it's months off yet, but i'm so excited! Screen on the Green! Woohoo!!

Return of Poker Night

First of all, props to Caroline for creating this blog so we don't have to send 1230340978324 emails to each other to plan things. She is so wicked smaht. Also, our first blog event is this Saturday, POKER NIGHT! Yes, the return of our supposedly monthly poker night is upon us. Meet this Saturday (May 13) at Arista's place at 7pm. When asked what people should bring, Arista responded "alcohol" and I am going to add snacks to that list. Preferably chocolate ones. I will bring some Mike's Hard Lemonade (yum!).

See you all Saturday!

PS: By popular demand, the book I was talking about last weekend is called "Prep" and it is by Curtis Sittenfeld. I highly recommend it, it's about a girl who is attending high school at a New England boarding school. The insights into teenage girlhood and life on the margins are great!

PPS: Because I love you all here is the cutest picture of Jeffrey Dean Morgan (also known as John Winchester on "Supernatural" and Denny on "Grey's Anatomy). The dimples! The smile! *swoon*

Hurray!

Hello ladies.

Welcome to Buffy Takes DC. For now take comfort in the fact that we have a group blog; i'll be back to figure out the technicalities and will e-mail y'all on how to post, etc. Also feel free to suggest a name change; i'm a tv mood and this is the closest i could come to something we all watch (*ahem* Moe has bad taste *ahem*).

Yay group blog! Yay fun in the city! Yay us!!
